About
Stewardship, conservation, and people
The Pick Up Project is a Florida-based nonprofit built around a simple idea: taking care of the places we live, work, and enjoy should not be complicated. This site is the home for that work, bringing together our journal of stories from the field, ways to get involved, opportunities to support the mission through donations and sponsorship, and a record of the cleanups and conservation projects we run across Tampa Bay and the wider state.
We built this platform for the people who make the work possible: residents who care about their neighborhoods, volunteers who show up with a trash bag and a pair of gloves, anglers and boaters who use these waters, businesses that want to be responsible partners, and donors and sponsors who fund the results. If you care about cleaner shorelines, healthier habitats, and better-informed communities, there is a place for you here.
The Pick Up Project is run by a small team of staff and volunteers guided by three words: stewardship, conservation, and people. We are not interested in outrage for the sake of outrage. We are interested in results: cleaner shorelines, healthier habitats, better-informed communities, responsible use of natural resources, and stronger relationships between people and the places they call home. We approach every question fairly and follow the evidence where it leads.
